Chanel No. 5 – Iconic Elegance and Seduction

Chanel’s perfume ads have long been celebrated for their sophisticated and classical visuals combined with minimal dialogue. Their commercials often resemble short films that highlight grace, mystery, and femininity, enhancing brand identity through indirect storytelling. A notable example is the campaign starring Nicole Kidman, blending romance, glamour, and subtle narrative.

Subjects, Direct and Indirect Objects

TikTok video explaining the grammar structures involved in indirect communication in French:

@cecilebbfrench

🇫🇷 What the heck are subjects, direct objects and indirect objects in French? Speak better French now! Subjects DO the verb/action Direct objects RECEIVE the action of the verb Indirect objects answer the question – TO who(m)? Barbara danse le tango Barbara is doing the dancing – Barbara is the subject. LE TANGO is being danced, le tango is the direct object. What about indirect objects? Indirect objects answer the question TO whom? ‘to’ in French is ‘à’ Hugo donne le cadeau à Barbara. Hugo is doing the giving, Hugo is the subject. The present is being given, the present is the direct object. The present is being given TO Barbara, Barbara is the indirect object (the direct object is given TO the indirect object. If you don’t want to use names of people or things you need different pronouns. Subject pronouns do the verb je – I, tu – you, il – he, elle – she, nous – we, vous – you, ils/elles – they. Direct object pronouns (receive the action of the verb) me – me, te – you, le – him, la – her, nous – us, vous – you, les – them Indirect objects (are nearly the same except, to him/her/them). me – to me, te – to you, lui – to him/her (yes both!), nous – to us, vous – to you, leur – to them Join ma liste 📧 for more fun French! 👉🏽 https://cecilebesrestbutler.activehosted.com/f/1 Join the Fun French Clan membership here to get instant access to over a hundred video lessons with me, CécileBB 👉🏽 https://courses.cecilebb.com/products/courses/view/30 Merci beaucoup, à la prochaine fois 👋🏽 #cecilebbfrenchforadults #frenchlessons #frenchteacher #frenchforbeginners #beginnerfrenchlessons #learnfrench

Anti-Smoking PSA

A well-known PSA visually contrasts life (a green plant) with smoking (ashtray-shaped vase), implicitly conveying smoking’s harm without blunt text. Found in public spaces like Hotel de Ville in Paris, it reaches diverse audiences through powerful imagery rather than explicit verbal warnings.
