The Class Monitor

In Indian schools, the class monitor keeps order when the teacher leaves the room. A writer on Pingara remembers the monitor “standing near the blackboard, writing down names of the noisy ones like a mini-police inspector.”

A blog of the Delhi Public School in Palam Vihar describes the same habit. The monitor liked “writing the names of all the children who made noise in the class, so that later on teacher could punish them.”
