Trustworthy is the first point of the Scout Law. American Scouts learn its meaning in two short sentences: “Tell the truth and keep promises. People can depend on you.”
The Boy Scouts of America adopted the law in 1910, close to Baden-Powell’s British original of 1908, whose first point read: “A Scout’s honour is to be trusted.”
