In her essay The Tyranny of Structurelessness, Jo Freeman wrote about groups that refuse to have leaders. Her conclusion: “there is no such thing as a ‘structureless’ group.” In such a group, she wrote, “‘structurelessness’ becomes a way of masking power.”
