“The name on the front is a hell of a lot more important than the one on the back.” Coach Herb Brooks says this to his players in the film Miracle (2004). Kurt Russell plays Brooks, the coach of the 1980 US Olympic hockey team.
The film tells how the underdog US team beat the far more experienced Soviet team at the 1980 Winter Olympics. The Americans then won the gold medal against Finland. It is not confirmed that the real Herb Brooks used the line.
