For decades, Huawei’s founder Ren Zhengfei rarely spoke to the press. In June 2014, he met the Chinese media for the first time, and a business site called him “the always mysterious and low-key founder of Huawei.” He told the reporters: “I meet the media because the public relations department forces me to.”
According to a CCTV count, he gave no more than ten media interviews in 31 years.
