In 2015 Elon Musk said autonomous cars would be available within three years. In 2019 he said he was “very confident” of operating robotaxis by 2020. Reuters counted promises of full self-driving almost every year since 2020. The Cybertruck was planned for production around late 2021 and started in 2023.
In 2023 Musk described himself as the “boy who cried FSD.”
