In 2023 American meeting software began writing the recap. On February 14, Otter.ai launched OtterPilot, which offers “AI-generated summarization of the key meeting topics” and lets attendees “assign action items during the meeting.” By the end of May, Microsoft had added an “intelligent recap” to Teams Premium.
On September 5, Zoom introduced AI Companion. Zoom said it can “identify action items from a meeting in progress.” Less than two months later, Zoom reported more than one million meeting summaries.
