In July 2018 Parliament added Section 17A to the Prevention of Corruption Act. It states: “No police officer shall conduct any enquiry or inquiry or investigation into any offence alleged” against a public servant “where the alleged offence is relatable to any recommendation made or decision taken by such public servant,” without prior approval. The deciding authority has three months to give its answer, which it can extend by one month with reasons in writing.
