Paryushana is an annual holy period of the Jains. On its last day, called Samvatsari by the Svetambaras and Kshamavani by the Digambaras, Jains ask forgiveness of all living beings, including friends and relatives. They say Micchami dukkadam, from the Prakrit miccha me dukkadam. It is sometimes rendered as “I am sorry, please forgive me.”
