The Army’s leadership doctrine, ADP 6-22 of July 31, 2019, lists confidence among the attributes of a leader’s presence. “Confidence is the faith leaders place in their abilities to make decisions and take appropriate action in any situation, no matter how stressful or ambiguous.” The doctrine adds: “A leader’s confidence is contagious and permeates the entire organization.”
It also warns: “Effective leaders temper confidence with humility.”
