On April 29, 1954, India and China signed an agreement in Peking. Hindi-Chini bhai-bhai, Indians and Chinese are brothers, “was the catch phrase for India-China diplomacy in the 1950s,” according to the Indian think tank Gateway House.
The relationship later broke down, “ultimately leading to the Sino-Indian war in 1962.”
