Take out a piece of printer paper. Fold it in half twice. Unfold it. You have quadrants. Turn the paper sideways. To the landscape position. Now use a pencil and an eraser:
1. Baseline Number
First, choose a baseline number. An important one. A number which is a key measure of how well your organization is performing. Write that in the top-left quadrant.
2. Key Success Factors
Second, in the bottom-left quadrant list no more than five key success factors. These are the things which the organization must do well in order to meet the baseline number.
3. Cross-Border Collaboration
Third, in the top-right quadrant list those of the max. five success factors which are dependent on smooth cross-border collaboration. Then sketch out per factor, and on a separate piece of paper: who is collaborating with whom, on what, and why.
You now have an overview of who is collaborating cross-border with whom.
